The Ellen scarf is knit flat, working back and forth. While the first and last rows of the scarf are worked following a simple pattern alternating garter stitch and an easy pattern with knit and purl stitches, the part in the center is worked in simple stockinette stitch. This pattern is very well suited for beginners.
