About Ellery Baby Sweater
The Ellery Baby sweater is sure to become a wardrobe favorite for your little one. Designed with a raglan sleeve for a comfortable fit with about 1.5 inches/3.8 cm of positive ease. The sweater is knit top down in the round so you can adjust the length as you like. Charts are provided for each size for the cable and bobble design.
Difficulty
Advanced. While this is knit using a standard raglan construction, being familiar with cables, twisted sts and using crotchet hook for bobbles is helpful.
Sizes
In months: 0-3 (3-6, 6-12, 12-18, 18-24) have a finished bust circumference of 17.75 (18.5, 19.5, 20.75, 21.75) inches/ 45 (47, 49.5, 52.7, 55.25) cm. Choose size based on chest circumference instead of age since baby sizes can vary. To choose size, measure baby’s chest and add 1.5 inches of positive ease. If baby is in between sizes, go up a size.
Yarn
Malabrigo Rios Superwash Merino Wool (worsted 4) shown in picture in colors Natural and Whole Grain. For sizes 0-3 (3-6, 6-12, 12-18, 18-24) you’ll need approximately 230 (290, 350, 410, 460) yards.
Needles
US6/4mm DPN’s and circular needles.
US4/3.5mm DPN and circular needles.
The body and sleeves are knit on US6/4mm while the ribbing is knit on US4/3.5mm. You can use 16”-24” inch circular needles to knit the body in the round and DPN’s for sleeves. Or I prefer to use 40” circular needles and knit using magic loop. Choose the method that you like best.
Gauge
23 sts by 32 rows in stockinette on US6/4mm when washed and blocked.
Notions
Measuring tape, stitch markers, scissors, 2.5mm crotchet hook for making bobbles
