I wanted to make something special for my little princess that she will wear and NOT out grown in a month. Something warm for my winter baby…. with snow flakes that were falling when she was born. I thought of sweater and quickly changed my mind as…changing little lively one can be challenging….especially those wiggly arms!! So poncho it is.
With turtle neck to keep her neck warm.
So cute. So easy to put on. Your little one can move freely and be warm. And size friendly for us knitter (^-^)
This patter is also a great project for beginner who is trying out stranded colour work for the first time. Main colour work is at the bottom flare so if your gauge is off, it’s not big deal. Plus, if it’s bit uneven, the flare will make it look evenly knit! The strands will not go for more than 4 stitches at a time so it is easier to keep the tension and no need to tuck away those awkward long stretch.
Your little one is sure to get lots of compliments and many many awwww!!
This poncho is worked from bottom up in rounds.
I have not tested this but if you’d like this for a child bit older than toddler, I would suggest to go for heavier yarn like DK or Worsted and up needle sizes.
