Designed for Supersock World Championship 2024. This pattern is exclusive to the competition.

This cuff-down sock features plaid inspired patterning, a strong heel, and an optional leg gusset. The vertical lines in the sock are formed from a combination of slip stitches and vertical stranding.

Inspired by The Last Of Us (video game and TV series) they are dedicated to Ellie. The ferocious, witty, apocalypse survivor. She is such a wonderful positive queer representation I couldn’t resist designing some socks for her.

Perfect for playing with colours. Pick a light, medium and dark yarn for a tonal pair. Or use a wild multicolour yarn for one of your contrast colours to give the socks added dimensions.

#sizeinclusive 5 teen-adult sock size options are included: 48 stitch, 56 stitch, 64 stitch, 72 stitch and 80 stitch. Additionally 2 size charts within the pattern give guidance for 2 gauges and sizing of the leg with or without a gusset. Giving leg dimensions options of 15 to 32 cm (6 to 13 inches) and foot dimensions 15 to 26.5 cm (6-10.5 inches). Additional sizes can be obtained by altering the gauge.

Yarn
MC 300 m (330 yd) (75 g)m, CC1 200 m (220 yd) (50 g), CC2 40 m (45 yd) (10 g) These are generous estimates and your amount used will vary with size knit.
MC, CC1 and CC2 all need to have good contrast to each other. Using a light and dark shade for MC and CC1 and a colour pop for the CC2 gives an effective apocalyptical plaid but other combinations also work well.
