Elllis Island Family Socks
Ellis Island was the gateway for immigration for millions of people from 1892-1954.
Between 1905 and 1914 approx. 750,000 immigrants per year passed through Ellis Island. They came by boat on long hard trips. The first immigrant to pass through Ellis Island was Annie Moore from County Cork Ireland. She was but 15 years of age and traveled with her two brothers to meet her parents. She was given a 10 dollar gold coin. This was probably the most money she had ever seen.
