I wanted to knit a simple pair of socks while traveling down to Cabo but I didn’t want to just do a basic vanilla type sock. Then I saw a version of this stitch pattern in a book and modified it for socks. It’s super easy to memorize and put down/pick up without loosing your place. But there’s also just enough going on that you don’t get bored. The name Elote comes from the Mexican word for corn on the cob which reminded me of the textured areas. It came to me while down there and I got some from a street vendor (it’s one of my favorite things, lol).
