This mitten design is worked in two colours, with a large turtle motif on the mitten tops, water ripples on the cuffs, and dragonflies on the palms. The pattern is a classic nordic shaping, with a thumb gusset - charts provide both left and right versions of the mitten tops, which have mirror-image turtles.

These mittens are one-size-fits-most. When testing the mitten and when sharing samples among friends, I find they fit most women’s hands, even when we wear different glove sizes. (But just in case, the pattern does provide a Final Note about accommodating special fit requirements).

This project requires two colours of fingering or sock-weight yarn, about 35 g of each. It can be worked in two solid colours, or look for special effects by playing a solid contrast against a variegated background.
