Elvie is a crochet baby elephant with a chubby body and 4 small legs. The elephant is formed by 2 main parts: head (with ears and trunk) and body (with legs made without seams). The only parts to be sewn are the head and tail to the already finished elephant’s body.
For the trunk there are 2 options, both explained in this pattern: with round shape modeled thanks to a special crochet technique (without using wire!) and a very simple version (which requires a wire or pipe cleaner to get the curl).

It is NOT a finished toy, it is a PDF pattern to make the amigurumi character with your hands, yarn and a crochet hook. Available only in English and Italian.

This is a 9 pages PDF crochet pattern which includes:

• written instructions in US crochet terms and Italian
• instructions to make the same elephant in different sizes playing with yarn weight!
• more than 50 step by step images
• only a few seams to do to complete the project!

Materials (not included in Digital download):

• Fingering, DK or Aran weight yarn (you can choose your favorite!). The 3 yarn used in this pattern are: Pink elephant in Hobbii Baby Cotton (100% cotton, 50g / 170m), Blue elephant in Paintbox Cotton DK (100% cotton, 50g / 125m) and Gray elephant in Drops Nepal (65% wool, 35% alpaca, 50g / 75m)
• crochet hook according to the yarn used
• a pair of safety eyes (9 or 12 mm)
• toy stuffing
• tapestry needle
• stitch markers
• pins

Size: from 12 to 18 cm long depending on the yarn used

Skill level: Intermediate

Notes: To make this amigurumi it isn’t necessary to use the recommended yarn and crochet hook. Using a larger crochet hook, and a suitable yarn, the amigurumi will be larger preserving the same proportions.

Construction: Body and legs are worked in one piece starting from the top of the body. Head and trunk are worked in one piece while ears are joined as you go. The trunk is shaped without using wire. At the end the head and tail are sewn to the body.

Schema amigurumi per realizzare Elvie l’Elefante amigurumi.

Elvie è un elefantino a uncinetto con un corpo paffuto e 4 piccole zampine. L’elefante si compone di 2 parti principali: testa (con orecchie e proboscide) e corpo (con zampe realizzate senza cuciture). Le uniche parti da cucire sono la testa e la coda al corpo dell’elefantino finito.
Per la proboscide ci sono 2 varianti, entrambe proposte nello schema: con curvatura modellata grazie a una speciale tecnica a uncinetto (senza ferretti!) o una versione semplicissima (che però richiede un ferretto o nettapipe per la curvatura).

Questa inserzione non si riferisce ad un oggetto finito ma allo schema in PDF con le spiegazioni per realizzare il soggetto a uncinetto con le proprie mani! Disponibile solo in Inglese e Italiano.

Le 3 opzioni mostrate nello schema sono realizzate con i seguenti filati: Elefantino rosa in Hobbii Baby Cotton (100% cotton, 50g / 170m), elefantino azzurro in Paintbox Cotton DK (100% Cotone, 50g / 125m) e elefantino grigio in Drops Nepal (65% Lana, 35% Alpaca, 50g / 75m)
• uncinetto {della dimensione giusta per il filato scelto}
• una coppia di occhi in plastica {da 9 o 12 mm}

Difficoltà: Intermedia

Note: Lo schema si esegue utilizzando il “metodo amigurumi”, si lavora in una spirale continua senza chiudere il giro con la maglia bassissima. Può essere d’aiuto utilizzare un marcapunto per segnare l’ultimo punto del giro e spostarlo mentre si lavora. Per eseguire questo amigurumi non è indispensabile utilizzare il filato e l’uncinetto consigliati. Utilizzando un uncinetto più grande ed un filato adatto l’amigurumi finale sarà più grande mantenendo le stesse proporzioni.

Costruzione: Il corpo e le gambe sono lavorate senza cuciture a partire dalla schiena. La testa e la proboscide sono un unico pezzo e le orecchie si uniscono alla testa con l’uncinetto. La proboscide è modellata con l’uncinetto, senza ferretti o nettapipe. La coda e la testa sono cucite al corpo.
