Elysian Cowl
elysian {el-ee-sian} Greek (adj.)
Beautiful or creative, divinely inspired, peaceful and perfect

I published my Elysian hat pattern in 2019 using this crochet technique that looks similar to brioche knitting with two colors of yarn. The stitches are crocheted with the darker main color stitches raised and set above stitches of a lighter contrast color in the background.
I decided to design a cowl using this lovely textured stitch pattern to match the Elysian hat. The Elysian Cowl is a quick and fun project with an easy two-row repeat with simple stitches with no advanced crochet techniques required.
For the cowl you will need about 270 yards total yardage of sport or DK weight yarn, about 180 yards for the darker main color and about 90 yards for the lighter contrast color.
For my cowl I used Malabrigo Arroyo in Piedras for my darker main color and Berroco Vintage DK in Mushroom (#2104) for my lighter contrast color.
In the pattern I have included written instructions, a chart, a schematic and photos to help you master this easy and unique technique. And, best of all you do not cut the yarn, and will only have four ends to sew in.
Because this cowl is quick to crochet and so easy to wear, it is
great for gifting!
