Elysian Shawl
E L Y S I A N SHAWL & SHAWLETTE
About:
‘Elysian’ (adj.) beautiful or creative, divinely inspired; peaceful and perfect.
I found joy designing this pattern. It wasn’t overly complicated and didn’t require my entire concentration (don’t take that the wrong way lol). So basically a simple and repetitive pattern that can be made in any size you wish. Just follow the guidelines outlined in the pattern.
Made with a total of five crochet stitches and in Stylecraft Batik yarn, this shawl has a soft drape and feels beautiful.
Pattern:
This pattern is written in both UK and US terms and consists of step-by-step photographs to help you along the way.
Skill level:
It is aimed at an adventurous beginner due to increasing stitches and the use of puffs and picots
Yarn:
As mentioned above, Stylecraft Batik was used to make these pieces. (The shawlette consists of one skein of Batik Elements)
Other Materials:
- 4mm hook (or corresponding hook to go with your choice of yarn)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Blocking equipment if desired
Gauge
The gauge for the different sized hooks are as follows (5 cm square):
4mm hook - 9 stitches and 5 rows
5mm hook - 8 stitches and and approximately 4.5 rows
Note that if your gauge is like the ones above, then if you’re using the 5mm hook, your shawl will have a more relaxed drape.
Optional:
Tassels are entirely optional, they used up all of my left over yarn so I was happy to add them.
A big thank you to my testers, Courtney, Sara, Anna and Terrii, without you I wouldn’t be able to do what I do xo
