Embers Shawl is a beautiful triangular shawl, worked in one piece, bottom-up. It is entirely knit in a lace and cable pattern which makes it an interesting project to work on. The result is an absolutely magnificent finished garment: a stunning shawl that will steal your heart ♡

The yarn for this design was kindly provided by Ivy Fibre Co.
The sample shawl was knit in wonderful Meadow Fingering yarn, in Fox colorway. I worked on this shawl during winter January days, often by the fire. The rich orangey red color of the yarn kept bringing to my mind “January embers”, the poem by Stephen King from one of his books.

The pattern includes charts and written row-by row instructions.

Size: one size; measurements after blocking: approx. 97 cm/ 38” long across bind off edge, 170 cm/ 67” long measured from cast on edge to the top and 191 cm/ 75” across top edge;

You can make your shawl bigger or smaller by working more/less Lace and Cable Pattern repeats.

Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm/ 4” in Stockinette Stitch on 3.75 mm/ US5 needles, measured flat after blocking;

Gauge is not important for this project but it will affect the size of your shawl and the yardage. Make sure you have enough yarn to complete your project.

Yarn: Ivy Fiber Co. Meadow Fingering 100% French merino d’Arles and Portuguese wool blend; 400 meters (437 yards)/ 100g (3.53 oz): 3 skeins; the sample was knit in Fox colorway;

Or: approx. 1200 m/ 1312 yards of fingering weight yarn;

Needles: 3.75 mm/ US5 circular needles at least 80 cm/ 32” long or needle size to obtain the gauge;

Other: cable needle, tapestry needle to weave in ends;
