Embracing butterfly is a cropped cardigan knitted in soft, light, organic wool. It looks ‘different’, rich and colourful: there is colourwork and texture at the same time. I call this 3D-knitting.
I used this technique in Lily cardigan for the first time. In Nefertiti capelet I used it all over. I really love the look of this kind of colourwork: it has depth, it’s lively and has a sparkle.
I wrote the pattern in 10 sizes: 36-54. The languages are English and Dutch. Each size has its own yoke and edges. These you find in the colour charts for each size.

Embracing butterfly is een verkort, ‘cropped’ recht vestje met ronde pas, met lange mouwen en een rits. Het is top-down gebreid aan een stuk, heen en weer (dus niet in het rond – al kun je natuurlijk rondbreien en een steek doen) en heeft een nep zoom opzij, om de zijkanten precies aan te geven. Iedere maat ronde pas heeft z’n eigen kleurwerk, zodat de verhoudingen mooi gebalanceerd blijven. De combinatie van kleurwerk met textuur noem ik 3D-breien, omdat er diepte, levendigheid en een sprankel ontstaat in het breiwerk. Dit maakt het werk – in mijn ogen – bijzonder.

Ik gebruikte deze techniek voor het eerst in Lily cardigan, in Nefertiti gebruikte ik het alom en nu dus weer opnieuw. Meer informatie over maten, hoeveel wol je nodig hebt etc vind je hier.
