Embracing Japarta
This is a fundraising pattern for my late brother, Mino (1971-2004)
“Embracing Japarta” is a shawlette/shawl with textured stripes and a frilled edging. “Japarta Journey” was my first triangular shawl design which has my favorite shape and size—a shallow triangle with a long wingspan. It was time to design another. During my first “open” test knit on my newly created Ravelry group, Nimara & Japarta, it was suggested that I design a larger size. So, you have two choices this time.
Skills required: K, P, YO, K2tog, Sl1pwyf (Slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front), M1R/M1L, kfb (knit front and back)
Required yardage: Small requires 380-400 yards; Large requires 650-700 yards
Finished size after blocking:
Small: 52” wingspan x 15” depth (132cm x 38cm)
Large: 62” wingspan x 18” depth (157cm x 46cm)

The pattern includes stitch count tables for both SM and LG.
The pattern has the “Final Note from Yuki” explaining my fundraising update in English. I added the Japanese translation for this pattern.

All the proceeds of this pattern will be donated to the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University. My late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) died of cancer at the age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. We are trying to fully fund it to achieve its perpetuity. Please help.
Please visit Being Connected with HOKARI MINORU to meet Mino.
