Emery
Emery is an asymmetrical triangular shawl knitted sideways on the bias in squishy garter stitch. Some fun bobble rows and deliciously easy eyelets add textural interest and are never boring to knit. Knitted in a wonderfully soft and luxurious yarn each stitch is a pleasure to make.
Yarn: Fonty Soyeuse, 30% silk, 70% wool, 115 m/125 yards per 50 g, shown in colours 130 (C1 green); 116 (C2 pink); 117 (C3 violet); 2 balls of each colour
(Sample 2 shown in colours 102 (C1 taupe); 109 (C2 blue); 126 (C3 rust)
Yardage for sample: approx. 650-690 m / 710-750 yards
You may substitute with any dk weight yarn that knits up to gauge. Please keep in mind that differences in gauge affect yardage; so make sure you have enough yarn to finish your project.
You will need more yarn if you wish to make this shawl in a larger size, yardage given is for the sample size.
Sample used almost the entire ball of the third colour, so if your gauge does not exactly match or if you wish to knit a larger shawl, please purchase an extra ball of C3!
Needles: 3.5 mm/US 4, circular needle, cable 80 cm/32” or longer. It is important that you use a circular needle, not a straight one!
Notions: 1 removable stitchmarker, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, pins for blocking or blocking wires
Gauge: 19 stitches/ 36 rows in Garter Stitch, per 10x10 cm/4x4 inches, after washing and blocking with relaxed fabric
Dimensions: (wingspan and depth)
205x108 cm/80.7x42.5 inches
Sizing is customisable, pattern gives instructions for several larger sizes as well as how to adapt to your own desired size.
Thank you so much to my testers for helping me to bring this pattern to life!
