Emilie Hat
Pattern description from Knitting Little Luxuries: “This design is inspired by the cute little pixie hats popular in the 1940s and 1950s, though the glint of silver in the yarn is anything but old-fashioned. I took the idea of a knitted hood from my small collection of vintage knitting patterns as my starting point to update the pixie hat.”
Yarn: Worsted weight (#4 Medium)
Louisa Harding Impression (16% kid mohair, 84% polyamid; 154 yd 141 m/50 g): #11 thunder (gray), 1 ball.
Needles: U.S. size 3 (3.25 mm): 16” (40 cm) circular (cir); U.S. size 6 (4 mm): 16” (40 cm) cir and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Marker (m); cable needle (cn); tapestry needle.
Notes:
- Written instructions and a chart are both included for the cable pattern; chose your favorite way of working cables.
- The number of stitches in the cables decreases toward the top of the hat, which shapes the crown into a point.
Hat will stretch to fit an average-size woman’s head.
