This pattern is a narrow triangular shawl that looks like a scarf, knit side-to-side.

It has a border that is knit at the same time as the shawl and, due to the shawl’s construction, you will be able do maximize the amount of yarn used and avoid leftover yarn. So have your kitchen scale ready!

The entire shawl is knit holding two strands of lace weight yarn, or one strand of fingering weight yarn. The triangle is knit in garter stitch and the border is knit in fisherman’s rib and slipped stitches, with a bobble at the end.

I’ll give you the option to add an i-cord edge to the border, in case you prefer a less curly edge. You can see the difference on this blog post. The gray version doesn’t have an i-cord edge, and the rust one does.

Finished measurements
140cm/55’’ wing-span; 31cm/12’’ depth.

Yarn
At least 100g/874yards of lace weight yarn held double or 100g/430yards of fingering weight yarn.
I used used Oxalis by Garna (colorway Gråbrun) on the gray sample and Alba by Garna (colorway Brændt Orange) on the rust sample.

Gauge in garter stitch
The gauge for this pattern isn’t super important. As long as there is some drape to your knitted fabric, you will like the finished product.

Este modelo é um xaile triangular e estreito, como um cachecol, tricolado de uma ponta para a outra.

Tem uma barra que é tricotada em simultâneo. A forma como o xaile é construído permite maximizar a quantidade de fio utilizada e evitar sobras. Por isso vão precisar de uma balança de cozinha!

O xaile é tricotado com dois fios de lace ou com um fio de fingering. O triângulo é tricotado em jarreteira e a barra é tricotada com Fisherman’s Rib e malhas passadas, com um borboto no fim.

Adicionalmente, têm a opção de tricotar um cordão na borda para que esta tenha menos tendência para encaracolar. Podem ver a diferença neste post. A versão cinzenta não tem cordão e a versão cor de laranja tem.

140cm comprimento; 31cm largura

Fio
Pelo menos 100g/800m de fio espessura lace para tricotar com dois fios, ou 100g/400m de fio fingering para tricotar só com um fio.
Eu utilizei Oxalis da Garna (cor Gråbrun) no xaile cinzento e Alba da Garna (na cor Brændt Orange) no xaile cor de laranja.

Amostra em jarreteira
A tensão da amostra não é muito importante neste modelo. Desde que gostem do drapear do xaile, não é necessário que a tensão seja esta.
