Simple diamond lace pattern scarf, worked up in 4 ply wool and mohair blend yarn. Using over sized needles helps to open up the pattern, making it lighter and airier, more delicate. Great for intermediate knitters, or beginners to lace work.

This pattern is named for my husbands paternal grandmother, Nana Emily, a knitter of serious skill, who was famous for her christmas aran jumpers and the bootie pattern which is still knitted for all new arrivals in the family.

Gauge is not particularly important for this knit. A looser knit will open it more and a tighter one close it in. Judge as you knit whether the pattern is opening up enough. The scarf will benefit from blocking once finished to completely open up the pattern so don’t panic too much if it looks a little on the tight side.

This scarf uses approximately 50g of 4 ply yarn. If you’d like it longer, just work extra repeats of the central lace section (part b) and adjust yarn accordingly.
