No-nonsense Emily is always ready for Adventure and Mayhem. But she has a soft side that she lets peek out, too.

This skirt is worked bottom up, in the round, initially utilizing a modified intarsia in the round technique before transitioning to traditional in-the-round construction.

The lace underlayer is worked separately but is then layered & joined to the main skirt.The four lace inset panels (two in front, two in back) are worked as intarsia.The waist band is hemmed, using an inner layer of Gaia to decrease bulkiness.

Buttons extend from top of each inset panel to waist for the front, and at the intersection of the inset panel and main body of the skirt in the back. The main fabric of the skirt is densely knit Stockinette stitch in DK weight Traveller yarn.

Yarn
The Sanguine Gryphon ‘Gaia Lace’, 1.9 oz/ 400 yd, 45% cashmere/55% silk, (1(1,2,2,2,2) skeins, Cornflower.

The Sanguine Gryphon ‘Traveller’, 4 oz/280 yd, 100% Merino, (3(4, 4, 5, 5, 6)) skeins, Ipswich.

¾” elastic for waistband, 1”/2.5cm less than finished waist circumference.

Gauge
In St st in Traveller using US 2.5/ 3mm needles, 26 sts and 36 rows = 4” (10cm).
In St st in Traveller using US 4/ 3.5mm needles, 24 sts and 32 rows =4” (10 cm).
Eyelet cable repeat (blocked) in Gaia using US 2.5/ 3mm needles: .75”(2cm) wide by .75”(2cm) tall.
Open leaf repeat (blocked) in Gaia using US 2.5/ 3mm needles: 1.25”(3cm) wide by 1”(2.5cm) tall.
In St st with Gaia held doubled, using US 2.5/ 3mm needles, 26 sts and 40 rows = 4” (10 cm).

Knitting in the round, familiarity with intarsia, lace. A sense of adventure and daring.

Do note that after you finish the lace sections and start working ribbing at those locations, the pattern states to continue the rest in pattern; this includes the side ribbing.
