Emily's Flowers Cowl
Emily’s Flowers Cowl is an easy, enjoyable and satisfying make, which has become a vital part of my capsule wardrobe. I have worn both the cowls I made with this pattern almost every day of winter and into spring also! When made with merino yarn, this cowl has beautiful drape and a lovely squish factor!
When made with a cotton-merino blend, the drape is even more pronounced as is the stitch definition.
The pattern is reversible which is ideal for a double-wrapped cowl, as there isn’t a definite right side or wrong side. It is also an easy stitch pattern to memorise whilst making, so you can enjoy mindful stitching as you create this, curled up on a couch with a mug of your favourite drink & some beautiful music in the background.
I used 3 skeins of the Bellissimo 8, a 100% merino yarn for one cowl, and 3 skeins of Drops Cotton-Merino blend for the other. Both yarns made cowls of generous width, and length. The pattern is easily made wider, so if you prefer an oversized cowl, you could simply add more rounds and finish at the width you desire your cowl to be.
The gauge is used loosely as a guide if you wish to create a similar sized finished cowl. Please use your creativity if you have a particular yarn in mind to make this one. The pattern will work with a variety of yarns, just match your hook size to your chosen yarn, make a swatch in the stitch pattern and check you have the degree of drape you’d like in your finished cowl. Remember to make your foundation chain in a 1mm larger hook size, I do find this helpful for me anyway!
Look forward to seeing your projects here on Ravelry and on social media.
