Emma
The design for Emma was inspired by the reticule handbags used by women in the 18th century. Emma is an oh-so-soft, luxury bag. A knitted lining makes the bag practical to use. A knit I-cord, ribbon or readymade cord can be used for the drawstring. Optional embellishments are a small pocket that is handy for a cell phone, duplicate stitch embroidery of your initials or a chosen motif, or a tassel.
Pattern requires the following skills: working in the round, increasing, decreasing, knitting I-cord (optional), duplicate stitch (optional), making a tassel (optional).
The bag measures 14”/36cm in circumference and 9”/23cm tall without the handles and tassel. The bag’s lining is approximately 12”/31cm in circumference and 6 1/2”/17cm tall.
You need approximately 290yds/265m to make a bag with all the embellishments. If working the duplicate stitch embroidery, you will need at least 1.5yds/1.5m of a DK weight yarn in a contrasting color.
