Welcome to Emsian Hat!

Although you don’t have to knit many purl stitches, Emsian Hat is a hat with look of reverse stockinette stitch, broken with stripes in contrast colour(s). Emsian Hat is knitted inside out, and it will keep your ears warm with three-layered hem. And it goes well with Emsian Cowl!

YARN
This hat is knitted with sport weight yarn. I recommend something more rustic. I used De Rerum Natura Ulysse (185 m (202 yd) / 50 g).

There are one main and three contrast colours:
MC (red): 95(105)115 m / 104(115)126 yd

CC1 (yellow): 95(105)115 m / 104(115)126 yd

CC2 (dark blue): 16(20)24 m / 18(22)26 yd

CC3 (light blue): 16(20)24 m / 18(22)26 yd

You can make changes in number of contrast colours. For example, all of yours contrast colours could be in the same colour! Or you can use the same colour for CC 2 and CC 3.

NEEDLES
circular 3 mm needles = US 2.5 (twice)
circular needles and DPNs 3.5 mm = US 4

GAUGE
23 sts × 40 rows (10 × 10 cm) in stockinette stich without blocking using the bigger needles
25 sts × 48 rows (10×10 cm) in twisted ribbing
using the smaller needles
