’En rentrant de l’école’ is a vintage sock pattern. It is inspired by an extant pair of children socks dating to the 1940s. It is proposed here in adult sizes S and M.
The name of this pattern, which could loosely translate as “going back home from school”, is a tribute to a very famous poem by French poet Jacques Prévert, “En sortant de l’école”, published in 1946. Generations of French pupils have learnt it, that is why it naturally popped into my mind for this vintage-looking pattern.
I would suggest using a solid and preferably light-coloured yarn to make the motif stand out.
