Encantada Yoga Sock
Envision yourself trying to do Downward Facing Dog, it’s January, and the floor is cold. You put on some socks, but your feet keep slipping out from under you. Now are doing Laying Down Dog. Solution: Yoga socks that you have crocheted. They are like fingerless gloves for your feet, with no toes or heel.
Learn to crochet these simple socks in this intermediate level pattern. This pattern assumes that you have a solid knowledge of crochet basics. You will need to know a few intermediate stitches, in addition to basic stitches: BLO sc (back loop only single crochet), esc (extended single crochet), and sc2tog (single crochet two together). The pattern also uses the foundation single crochet, and there are links to tutorials on this stitch. There are a couple of photos showing the sc2tog over 2 dc, as well as the placement of slip stitches on the reverse ribbing.
This sock appears to be a simple tube, but as you will see, the pattern uses increases and decreases to make it fitted. It uses the foundation single crochet for the heel opening because it not only makes for a more attractive finish, but the heel benefits from the added stretch the stitch gives. Pay attention to your stitch count to achieve the best results.
Supplies:
- fingering weight sock yarn, 100gm. I recommend a solid color in light hues until you are familiar with the pattern. You can usually get two pair from 100 gm if you are careful.
- C/2.75mm, D/3.25, or E/3.5mm hook to obtain gauge
- 3-4 removable stitch markers
- yarn needle, ruler, scissors, optional row counter and highlighter tape
