Notes From the Designer:
•Enchanted is a simple shrug style or unstructured cardigan made from a basic rectangle. This cardigan features easy lace repeats between uncomplicated garter stitch columns. A 2x2 ribbing runs along the top and bottom of the piece when laid flat, and creates a lovely trim along the front once the cardigan is seamed to shape. This is a perfect project for road trips to your favorite enchanted destination.
•This cardigan is worked from the bottom up in a simple rectangular shape. Once finished and blocked, the piece is then folded in half and seams worked along indicated lengths on each side to form armholes.
•Watch a video here for a demonstration of the lace stitching for the body as well as how to fold and seam the piece.
Merriam-Webster defines “enchanted” as: ‘placed under or as if under a magic spell’, ‘having or seeming to have a magical quality’, and ‘made to feel delightfully pleased or charmed.’
I added different elements to this design that are meant to help keep the attention of the knitter while also being simple enough for adventurous beginners to expand their skills. For the name of the pattern, I looked no further than my own feelings when I first knit the swatch. I was thoroughly enchanted with the way the different stitch patterns complemented each other, with the stitch definition created by the larger needles, and with the sparkle of the DK weight yarn base chosen for the project.
