I have made this butterfly using several methods; using a variegated yarn produces lovely patterns and colors. For the butterfly on the front of this pattern, I used 8 skeins of Caron Simply Soft yarn or other worsted weight yarn. You will need approximately 200 yds.

Gauge/finished dimensions: Gauge will depend on the size of the hook you use, plus the number of initial rounds. You can easily do a lighter weight yarn and smaller hook with this pattern to make a small butterfly. To create a larger butterfly, you can repeat row 6 as needed, or repeat rows on each wing before beginning the decrease on each.
