It’s not wrong to say that cables are one of my favorite stitch pattern types, and I strongly believe that you may incorporate them even in your warm weather knits. For Encinitas, I used the simplest cable rope pattern, combined with columns of eyelets for extra airiness. The body of the top is worked in the round from the bottom up in stockinette stitch with a gradual introduction of the cable-and-lace to create the visual interest and architectural look of this humble tee.
The two characteristics of Miss Babs Killington, a Polwarth wool and Tussah silk blend, made me choose this yarn for Encinitas Top. First, the relatively low micron count (23-25) of Polwarth wool means you can wear it next to the skin, and second, its stitch definition; the yarn’s unique blend of long-staple wool and silk fibers means that each and every stitch you knit will stand out.
