Enez Brunec Mittens
Mitts are worked in the round, seamlessly from the bottom up, in 1x1 & 2x2 ribbing. The thumb gusset is worked in stockinette stitch and finished with 2x2 ribbing. Both mittens are worked in the same way.
They can be worked either on double-pointed needles or on a long circular needle using the Magic Loop technique.
Yarn: since fingerless mitts can get dirty, you’ll want to choose a durable yarn that you can easily wash. Plied, soft yarn with good elasticity is recommended
- Himalaya Everyday Fiber (100% Anti-Pilling Acrylic 250m 273 yds per 100gr).
- Tenture luree Merino/tence (50% merino, 50% tencel, 333m per 100gr) colour yellow.
Yardage: Approx 145 (150, 180, 185) m
160 (165, 195, 200) yd.
Needles:
-Size A for main pattern
one 16” 40 cm circular needle (circ) or double-pointed needles (dpns) size US 2.5 3 mm or size to obtain gauge
-Size B for cuff and fingers ribbing
one 16” 40 cm circ or dpns size US 2 2.75 mm.
Or one size smaller than size A.
Notions:
Stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle.
Gauge: after blocking, 20 sts and 34 rnds = 4” 10 cm with size A circ in 2x2 rib pattern.
Dimensions: Usually, fingerless mitts will look small during the knitting process. Don’t worry too much: they will stretch when you put them on! If you’re nervous, you can try on your gloves a few times throughout the knitting process to check the fit. Suggest 0–1½” 0–4 cm negative ease.
Finished measurements:
A: approx 6½” 16.5 cm.
B: 6½ (7, 7¾, 8½)” 16.5 (18, 19.5, 21.5) cm. circumference, un-stretched; shown in size 6½” 16.5 cm worn with ¾“ 2 cm negative ease.
