Enez Brunec Tote bag 1
This is a market bag in two sizes, also perfect for your weekend trips to the beach. The simple yet interesting construction will entertain you while at the same time could allow you to create a fun colour pattern, working with only one colour at a time! The choice of stitches (double yo) makes this a stretchy yet sturdy bag! For maximum durability, I like to use linen yarn for my knitted bags. Cotton is also very popular option that has minimal stretch and will hold up to a lot of weight for many uses.
CONSTRUCTION
This market square bag starts with a rectangular bottom knit flat with 2 strands of yarn held together. Then sts are pick up around and the body part then worked in the round. The top opening of the bag is folded double for practicality and durability. You could used leather straps or knitted handles. The bottom of the bag is worked in garter stitch to prevent small items from falling out. The main part is knitted in a lace stitch.
