Entomologist Hat
Cozy hat with contrasting butterflies and a little bit of a stranded fun. Inspired by my background as a biologist and the Entomologist Sweater.
MEASUREMENTS
One size.
Length: 10” (25.5 cm).
Circumference: 18.5” (47 cm).
The hat is intended to be worn with approximately 2-5” (5-13 cm) of negative ease. The hat can be worn until head size 23.5” (60 cm).
YARN
DK weight yarn in 2 colors.
MC: 120 yards (110 meters).
CC: 120 yards (110 meters).
NOTIONS
Markers, 2 cable needles, and tapestry needle.
NEEDLES
US 5 – 3.75 mm
- 16” (41 cm) or shorter circulars and a set of double pointed needles.
US 3 – 3.25 mm
- 16” (41 cm) or shorter circulars.
GAUGE
24 sts and 30 rows 4” (10 cm) in Butterfly Stitch with larger needles.
CONSTRUCTION
Entomologist hat is worked in the round from brim to crown.
A contrasting color is used in the lace and in the stranded patterns.
Lace pattern includes complete written instructions and charts.
Stranded pattern is charted only.
