I spent an early fall morning sitting outside at my favorite cafe sipping coffee and knitting. As I watched people come and go I noticed the door. I was drawn to its colors. The door was a heavy, wooden door with beautiful tones that are mimicked in the apple wood yarn. And the trim was this great pop of green turning a simple door into something more.

As I looked at the door I thought of all the doors I’ve traveled through in the past few years. I reminisced about all the entry points I’ve crossed hopping from country to country. Everywhere I went there were arrows pointing me along the way. The broken chevron reminds me of arrows pointing up and down creating that dividing line between places.

The hat is a quick, easy knit and a great introduction to colorwork. The design adds a pop of interest to a simple hat.
