Enunciate is the fifth and last hat in the Kino Knits E-Book collection, featuring five hats in eight sizes each. Hats were released on a staggered basis.

I want to make this perfectly clear: sometimes you just want a hat, FAST, because winter is on the way! But that doesn’t mean it has to be boring. The Enunciate hat features an undulating twisted rib brim in Aran weight for maximum squish around your ears. The brim mimics growing and drifting snowbanks, with a perfect snowflake made out of nupp stitches swirling down from the sky. Never done a nupp stitch? This is the perfect time to learn! Plus, I’ve got you covered with a video tutorial to show you how. Best of all, Enunciate is sized from preemie up to giant adult!

Skills:
Knitting, knitting through the back loop, and purling in the round; nupp stitches (written directions in the pattern and video tutorial at https://youtu.be/OrltBur5aas), K2tog decreases.

Yarn:
Aran weight yarn.

(Listed below are the hat circumferences (circ) in the stockinette section of the hat. Choose a size 1-3”/2.5-7.5 cm smaller than your head circ. When between sizes, choose the larger size since the twisted ribbing pulls the hat circ in.)

• 1: 7.25”/18 cm circ, 4.75”/12 cm height
• 2: 9.25”/23 cm circ, 5.25”/13.5 cm height
• 3: 12.75”/32 cm circ, 5.75”/14.5 cm height
• 4: 14.75”/37 cm circ, 6.25”/16 cm height
• 5: 16.5”/42 cm circ, 7.25”/18.5 cm height
• 6: 18.25”/46 cm circ, 8.25”/21 cm height
• 7: 20”/51 cm circ, 8.75”/22 cm height
• 8: 22”/56 cm circ, 9.25”/23.5 cm height

Yarn Amounts (includes 15% buffer)

• 1: 30 yds/25 m
• 2: 40 yds/35 m
• 3: 55 yds/50 m
• 4: 70 yds/65 m
• 5: 95 yds/87 m
• 6: 120 yds/110 m
• 7: 135 yds/125 m
• 8: 160 yds/146 m

Gauge:
17.5 stitches and 27 rounds per 4”/10 cm in stockinette in the round, blocked.

Tools:

• 8 stitch markers (1 should be unique)
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Needles:
US 7 (4.5 mm) needles for knitting a small circumference in the round, or size needed to get gauge.
