The body of the vest is worked with a heavy DK weight yarn (or Worsted weight yarn) at a relatively dense gauge, to provide structure to the garment. The contrasting yarnis a fingering weight yarn to offer more versatility: knit as a single strand for the pocket linings and contrasting hems, to limit the bulkiness in those areas; held double for the finishing touches, to match the weight and look of the main yarn.
