Eomer Shield Tam
The inspiration for this pattern came from an unused Lord of the Rings drawing of a shield for Eomer. This complex-looking tam is not as hard as it looks! A quick, yet fun and challenging knit for intermediate to advanced knitters.
Full color pictures, charts and written instructions will guide you through each step. The techniques in the pattern include 3 colors per row, colorworked cables, corrugated ribbing and stranded motifs.
Yarn requirements: less than a skein each of 7 coordinating colors.
A big, big thanks to MRPP and 53Chevy for test-knitting and tech editing this pattern.
Different sizes can be achieved using different needle sizes, and differing weights of yarn which may increase or decrease your yardage requirements.
This pattern is also available at Knit Picks. The color conversion chart for the Icy kit (previously sold by Knit Picks) is shown on the left picture column.
Update: Version 2 of the pattern is now available. The typos on the Small Cable Motif and Main Chart as well as other inconsistencies have been updated.
