Eostre
Eostre is believed to be an ancient Saxon Goddess of spring.
Although little is written about her, she appears to be a goddess of purity, youth and beauty, as well as one of new beginnings. Eostre has ties to Ostara, the pagan celebration of spring that coincides with Easter. A Mother Nature-like figure, she is represented in this shawl with a nature motif, including tiny buds flowing into full-grown
leaves.
This shawl has a unique construction. The centre panel of leaves is knit first, from the bottom up. Stitches are then
picked up along either side, and work is continued in the traditional topdown triangle manner. The top edge is finished off with a feminine picot bind-off.
It’s knit with Wandering Cat Yarns Aristocat - a decadent single ply combination of wool, alpaca and silk - giving
it a beautiful drape, just the right amount of warmth for cool spring evenings.
Knit Eostre and bring a little pagan magic to your wardrobe.
Finished measurements are 60” wide x 29” long.
Pattern is charted only, and requires some understanding of shawl construction.
