Epsom is so named after the lace border it features. The Epsom lace border is an old one, popular in Victorian times but very simple to knit. It’s only a four row repeat and you’ll quickly memorize it. The top portion of the shawl is very straight-forward, making this project great for TV or company knitting. I’ve written the pattern conservatively, you’ll easily get it out of one skein of Vintage Purls Sock yarn if you are on gauge but I’ve given some notes at the end that will help you manage your yarn should you wish to make it larger (or to work at a different gauge).

Model is approximately 145cm wide and 30cm deep at the centre post blocking. It was knit from 84grams of yarn.

Pattern two from the Vintage Purls Winter Sock Yarn Club 2012.
