2020 was a special year, full of ups and downs, and for me was all about finding balance by exploring those things that make me happy… like knitting! This is how this sweater was born, so I named it Equilibrio, the Spanish word for balance.

Equilibrio is a top-down seamless sweater with a double turtleneck at the beginning. Then you work in flat to form the space in the shoulder. Once the length has been achieved new stitches are cast on and the rest of the yoke is worked in the round with raglan increases. The body is intended to be worn with no ease, while the sleeves use increases and decreases to form that puffy shape between the elbows and wrists. To finish this garment you work some short rows in the shoulders.

Finished circumference at bust: 78,7 (84, 92, 101,3) 109,3, 117,3, 126,7, 132cm/ 31 (33,1, 36,2, 39,9) 43, 46,2, 49,9, 52” intended to be worn with no ease.

Yarn: DK weight yarn 680 (700, 820, 910) 1000, 1100, 1220, 1310 mts/ 743 (765, 897, 995) 1093, 1202, 1335, 1433 yards. if you use acrylic, consider using between 20% to 50% more material.

Gauge: 23 sts X 21 rows = 10 cm/ 4” Measured over stockinette stitch after blocking with 5.5 mm / US 7 circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

2020 fue un año muy especial, con altos y bajos, para mí fue principalmente acerca de encontrar el equilibrio, explorando aquellas cosas que me hacen feliz… como tejer!. Así es como nació este chaleco, por lo que lo llame Equilibrio.

Equilibrio es un chaleco que se teje desde arriba sin costuras. Se inicia con un cuello alto doble, luego tejes en plano para formar los espacios en los hombros. Una vez que llegas al largo correcto se urden nuevos puntos y se teje en redondo con aumentos raglan. El cuerpo cuenta con holgura neutral, mientras que las mangas usan aumentos y disminuciones para crear la forma aglobada entre el codo y la muñeca. Para finalizar se trabaja con vueltas cortas en los hombros.
