Equinox is a balance of light and dark to an almost equal degree making it a striking statement of colour balance.

The Mosaic technique makes it simple to knit with only knitting one colour per round. If you are new to Mosaic this pattern is a great starting point. For those with more experience it is a fun and relaxing knit with quick results.

There are two sizes to choose from and Equinox is a great way to use up stash yarn, or give you an excuse to visit your LYS.

Measurements after gentle blocking:
#1. Height = 25.5 cm/ 10”. Neck opening = 28 cm/22” stretches to 69 cm/27”. Bottom edge = 81 cm/32”
#2. Height = 16.5 cm/6.5”. Neck opening = 48 cm/19” stretches to 58.5 cm/23”. Bottom edge = 58.5 cm/23”.

Gauge:
#1. 19 stitches x 25 rounds = 10 cm/4” square in stocking stitch on 5.5mm//US 9 needles.
#2. 20 stitches x 24 rounds = 10 cm/4” square in stocking stitch on 5 mm/US 8 needles.

Yarns used:
Both cowls are knit with Malabrigo Rios. Pure Merino Superwash. 100 grams,192 meters/210 yards. (9 wpi).

Colour (A) 1 skein # 894 Cielo Y Tierra. Cowl # 1 used 65 grams (A) and 40 grams (B).
Colour (B) 1 skein # 096 Sunset. Cowl # 2 used 27 grams (A) and 32 grams (B).

The amounts of yarn used are based on my samples for the designs but will depend on the yarn you choose, variations in yarn thickness of each colour, your personal gauge/tension and any changes made.

Needles and supplies:
Cowl # 1. 5.5 mm/US 9 circular needles 60 cm/24” in length. Or size needed to obtain gauge.
Cowl # 2. 4.5 mm/ US 7 circular needles 50 cm/20” in length.
5 mm/US 8 circular needles 50 cm/20” in length. Or size needed to obtain gauge.

4 stitch markers one being unique to mark start of round for cowl # 1.
1 stitch marker for cowl # 2.
