Equinox
Get ready for cool weather with this easy but intricate hat. A clever slip stitch pattern creates the appearance of complex color work, but each row uses only one color at a time—no need to juggle two strands of yarn at once. Layered stitches and purled bands create a deep, textured feel, perfect for a rustic yarn such as the one used in the sample. The crown of the hat is finished with an applied i-cord, accenting the four-pointed decreases.
Sizing: 0-6 months (18 months-2 years, adult small, adult medium/large). Finished circumference is approximately 14.5 (17.5, 20.5, 23.25)”; 37 (44.5, 51.5, 59) cm. Sample pictured is 20.5” circumference worn on a ~22” head.
Gauge: 22 sts x 54 rows = 4” (10 cm) in slip stitch pattern on size 4 US (3.5 mm) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
