Eras Mastermind Socks
The Eras Mastermind Socks are the perfect reminder of the Eras Tour. The pattern includes colour/patterns for all of the outfits so for each era simply pick the outfit you would like and personalise your sock completely. Either use the outfits from your show, if you were lucky enough to attend, or pick your favourites! The photos show London night five and outfits for the Eras Tour film.
The socks are knitted from the cuff to the toes in the round. I use small circular needles, but you can use the magic loop method or DPNs based on your preference. The pattern goes through how to calculate the perfect foot length for your sock as well as optional modifications for the heel/gusset so that you sock fits well around the heel diagonal too.
Techniques used: knitting in the round, decreasing using k2tog and SSK, picking up stitches, kitchener stitch (instructions included in pattern), stranded colour work (although most of this could be done by duplicate stitch at the end if preferred).
I have written and picture instructions for most techniques, but you may find watching a video useful if you have never worked the techniques before.
Materials needed:
3.5mm needles (circular or DPN based on preference). If using short circulars, then you will need to use the magic loop method on larger circulars or switch to DPNs for the last few rows when the toe becomes too narrow.
Optional: 3.75mm needles if your gauge is tighter for the colourwork sections.
Darning needle to weave in ends
Stitch marker (x3), but not neccesary
Yarn: Any DK yarn. I have included the yarns I used in the pattern along with some suggestions for alternative outfits, but I think this is the perfect project for using up your scraps.
The main yarn I used was Valley Yarns Superwash DK (125m/50g).
The total amount of yarn will vary depending on foot size. For a size two sock knitted for a UK size 6 foot, with modifications for a high instep, I used 112m/45g total for the normal length sock.
Gauge: Knitted in stockinette stitch and blocked: 24 stitches by 34 rows
Sizes (actual sock circumference):
Size one - 17.5cm
Size two - 20cm
Size three - 22.5cm
