This mitten does not have a traditional thumb gusset. The gusset follows the life line on your hand. It’s easy to work. The pattern has instructions for the traditional way to knit a thumb on 3 double pointed needles but we’ve included an alternate: work the thumb as an I-cord. Now my favourite way to work a thumb.
