Erradale
This pattern is part of To the Shore - a collection of 5 patterns – 1 garments, 4 accessories – inspired by my love of the coast of Britain, celebrating some of my favourite british yarns.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brioche lace suggests the foamy sand patterns left behind when the tide goes out, as rhythmic and soothing as the receding waves. Erradale is a deceptively simple knit, equally eye-catching in one or two colours.
Black Isle Yarn’s first-clip Coulmore 4-ply is a natural part of the Inverness landscape, from sheep that live just round the corner from me. It’s the perfect choice for a warm shawl with body and bounce, and shows the brioche off beautifully.
Size
Length - 250 cm / 98.5 in
Depth - 56 cm / 22 in
Yarn
The 1 colour version of the pattern requires 700 m / 770 yds fingering weight yarn.
The 2 colour version of the pattern requires 350 m / 385 yds of yarn in each colour.
It is recommended that you chose a yarn that will block well, and give stitch definition to the brioche pattern.
Samples are made using:
Black Isle Yarns Coulmore 4ply, 350m / 385 yds per 100g skein.
The 1 colour version uses 2 skeins in Natural.
The 2 colour version uses 2 contrasting naturally dyed skeins, one in each colour.
