The Erysimum Shawl is a fun 3 color knit, with loads of squishy garter stitch broken up by simple mosaic knitting panels, and finished with a lovely wide lace panel. The motifs play off each other, and are inspired by the Western Wallflower (Erysimum capitatum). Knit your own little meadow of wildflowers!

Instructions are both written and charted.

Construction: An asymmetrical triangle shawl, knit on the bias. Edges are knit as you go, so once you bind off, you’re done and ready for blocking!

Yarn: Roughly 1 400 yard / 366 meter skein per color. You’ll need the most of color B.

Sample used the following:
Color A (Lightest): 296 yards / 271 meters Explorer Knits + Fibers Denali Sock ‘Lone Wolf’

Color B (Medium): 392 yards / 359 meters Explorer Knits + Fibers Denali Sock ‘Nutcracker’

Color C (Darkest): 372 yards / 341 meters Explorer Knits + Fibers Denali Sock ‘Timber’

The shawl lends itself well to playing with colors. Some test knitters changed color placement, and one even used a variety of scraps instead of 3 colors. I think using a fade of minis for color A or B might look particularly nice.

Needles and Notions: US 6 / 4.0 mm I recommend circular needles, and found a 30” cord to be comfortable at the end of the shawl.

You’ll also need scissors and a darning needle for weaving in ends.

Gauge: 20.5 sts and 31 rows in 4” / 10 cm.

Gauge isn’t super critical in this pattern, but will affect your yardage and the final size of the shawl.

Techniques:
K2tog, K3tog, Kfb, P2tog, SSK, YO, slipping sts purlwise with yarn back, and with yarn front.

A huge thank you to Hannah (Works of Our Hands) for tech editing, and to Kyla, Jean Kenny, Missy, and Tina for test knitting!
