Created to be worn all year, all day the Escala top adds a new dimension to the wardrobe!
Waterfall cardi, wrap, heartwarmer, cross-over; it could be worn and used in so many different ways.
With it’s soft and simple lines it is a joy to wear, finding new ways of wearing it, either open or closed by placing a brooch at collar, in the waist, at bust-height. The look of the top changes, and you can adept it to your mood! And what’s more: the top is not falling off the shoulders - it really stays in place.

The Escala top is knitted SEAMLESSLY and TOP-DOWN. It is worked flat (back and forth) on circular needles. You start by working the collar, divide stiches between fronts and back and work each piece individually to armpits where work is assembled for the body. The lovely, “scalloped” edge is like a stair-case, casting off a few stiches at beginning of each row.
Increases are made at regular intervals towards the lace-section in order to create a soft and curved line.
Lace-pattern is repetetive and easily memorized.

Knittingskills: you will be working k2tog, yo, ssk, m1l, m1r. There is also one “uncommon” stich in the lace-pattern, however this stich is easy to learn and I explain how to do it in the instructions.

Material: I used the soft and lovely Madeline Tosh Merino Soft to work my top. Depending on which part of the year you want to make your top you could go for any natural fibre with a nice drape. For best result please respect the gauge which is 28 sts and 39 rows. You will need 2/2/3/3/3/3/3/3/4/4 skeins of wool.

The pattern is easy to follow with stich-counts on the way and with both a full chart and written row-by-row instructions for the lace-pattern. I give you measurements in both cm and inches.
