Escher's Blocks
M. C. Escher was an artist of the 20th century whose mathematical constructs were both amazing and unusual. His use of light and dark, pattern, repetition, colour, and 3D effects fooled the eye and brought hours of optical illusion fun for the viewers of this wonderfully eclectic art. This pattern is inspired by his use 3D effects in a textural sock and is perfectly reversible for a toe up version.
The garter stitch edge frames the blocks as they tumble up or down the sock. The use of moss stitch creates a facet of the block, along with a pure knit side and a pure purl side. This is a medium sock of 64 stitches with a garter stitch heel to showcase the edges of the pattern.
Type of yarn colourway – solid, tonal, semi-solid, or lightly striped. Not suitable for: heavily patterned, heavily striped, speckled, spotted, variegated.
