The Eskimo Mittens are perfect for last minute gifts. Quick to knit thanks to aran weight yarn. Easy to follow cable pattern. Thick and cozy mittens for outdoors lovers, dog walkers and “always cold hands” people.
Pattern is designed for aran weight yarn but you can also try worsted weight yarn together with kid silk and get more fluffy look.

Mittens are knitted from cuff up, in the round on circular needles with increases used to form the thumb gusset.

The pattern is written to be worked using the magic loop method. It can be worked on double pointed needles, treat your first two needles as needle I, and the third and fourth needle as needle II.

Yarn used for sample:
Garnstudio DROPS Nepal: 35% superfine alpaca, 65% wool, 50 g – 82 y/75 m, color 0501 (used 125 g – 205 yds/187 m

Gauge:
11 sts and 15 rows = 2 ”/5 cm in stockinette stitch after blocking.

Needles:
3.0 mm (US size 2.50)
3.5 mm (US size 4)
circular needles and DPNs (for thumb) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Total length (with folded cuff): 9 3/4”/ 25 cm
The length is adjustable. Knit a few more/ less rounds.
