Pattern directions include lots of color pictures, very detailed knitting instructions, definitions of stitches used and complete instructions for making a fabric strap(s) and lining the bag.

“Espalier” is a French term referring to the method of training a tree or plant to grow flat against a wall or trellis. The beautiful stitch pattern used for these two bags is reminiscent of the “Belgian Fence” pattern used in espalier and is highlighted by a pretty spray of long stitches that give a floral or leaf effect. They are wonderful Spring/Summer bags. Make several in different colors!!

Skill level: intermediate, plus some sewing skills (if you are making a fabric lining)
