In 2010 I bought this beautiful yarn from the Knit Witch at Stitches South. The colorway of Venus is beautiful and rich but I wanted just the right stitch pattern to showcase the colors. In 2011 I knit on this shawlette at Stitches South and now it’s ready to see the light of day.

A bottom up shawlette worked up in a lovely hand-dyed sock weight yarn from The Knit Witch. The edging of this shawlette is worked up along the sides as you knit. There is short-row shaping to help it sit on your shoulders and a picot bind-off for a fancy edging. The short-row shaping instructions are written only.

This pattern is not exactly the same on both sides, but it is lovely enough on both sides to be reversible – I prefer the “wrong-side” of this shawlette myself. The center patterning is simple enough to show off variegated yarns to their full advantage as you can clearly see.

The finished sample measures 22” deep and about 60” wide after blocking. The finished shawlette is rather stretchy and it is easy to block to your taste.
