Ester’s Easter MKAL
This half circle shawl was inspired by a combination of pleasant childhood memories and an old crochet doily that I found at a garage sale last month. The doily reminded me of the pattern of my Great-grandmother’s crochet holiday baking apron. Using the doily design and my happy holiday memories of the skirt of that apron the design for this shawl came to be. I blocked my shawl with a gently scalloped edge rather than sharp points to match my memories of Nanna’s apron.
My MKAL group thread can be found here.
Finished Measurements: 36 inches (91 cm) wide x 15 inches (38 cm) long (after blocking and relaxing)
The size can easily be adjusted by an increase in needle size and yarn weight.
Materials & Tools
• 450 yards of lace weight yarn in a soft spring color
• Size 5 US / 9 UK (3.75 mm) 20 inch (50 cm) circular knitting needles
• Tapestry or darning needle
• Shawl blocking supplies ( blocking wires and T pins)
Gauge: Gauge is not terribly important for this project but my dimensions are based on a gauge of 36 sts x 56 rows = 4 x 4 inch (10 x 10 cm) square in Stockinette stitch.
