Esther Shawl is a tribute to my maternal great-aunt. Aunt Esther was a very generous person, who loved coffee, books and animals and had a very peculiar sense of humor.

Esther Shawl is knit from the top-down in crescent shape beginning at the top center. It features i-cord edges on both sides, which start at the cast on.

The shawl is knit using two lace weight strands of yarn together. If you choose a fingering weight yarn, you will only need one strand. In this case, consider that you will only need half of the yardage indicated on the materials list.

2 skeins or 1530 yards (1400 m).
• US 6 (4 mm) 32” (80 cm) or longer circular knitting needles (or size needed to obtain gauge).

Tip: if you want to substitute the yarn, choose an option that has wool or cotton in its composition. The use of acrylic yarn is not recommended for this project, since it is a type of fiber that does not respond well to blocking.

O nome do Xale Esther é uma homenagem à minha tia-avó materna. A tia Esther era uma pessoa muito generosa, que amava café, livros e animais e tinha um senso de humor muito peculiar.

O Xale Esther é um xale top-down em formato crescente tricotado a partir do centro superior. Ele apresenta bordas em i-cord nas laterais, que são iniciadas na montagem.

O xale é tricotado usando dois fios de espessura lace juntos. Caso você opte por usar um fio fingering, não será necessário tricotar com fio duplo. Neste caso, considere que você precisará apenas da metade da metragem indicada ao lado.
