Estonian Inspired Mitts
The motifs can be found in the Estonian mitten book, Eesti labakindad ilma laande laiali.
You should be familiar with stranded knitting,
increases and decreases,
chart reading.
These fingerless mitts are knit in-the-round from the cuff-up and feature fitted wrists, thumb gussets and rows of stranded flowers.
The majority of the stranded knitting uses 2 colours at a time. However, for the rows that use 3 colours, the 3rd colour can be duplicate stitched at the end with a tapestry needle.
Sizes - the test knit is for a 6 1/2 inch wrist and 7 inch hand.
A stranded knitting gauge of 10 stitches per inch should work for a 7 inch wrist, 7 1/2 inch hand;
9 stitches per inch for an 8 inch wrist, 8 1/2 inch hand.
